Spring is finally here so I figured it was time to update my wardrobe. I buy a new pair of black flats every year because I wear them almost every day. They are perfect for work but when I want to feel a bit more dressed up they can get a bit boring, which is why I decided to make my own removable shoe clips using a gemstone embellishment. But then I thought, “I can’t just have fancy shoes without a matching bag. ……I just can’t!!” The Nigerian part of me must ensure that every outfit is perfectly coordinated. So, I bought myself a plain black purse and attached the same gemstone embellishment onto it, and as a result my matchy-matchy tendencies were completely satisfied. I’m quite pleased with my efforts and I figured that it might inspire you to update some pieces in your wardrobe. As usual, all the instructions and shopping links are below.

YOU WILL NEED:
- A pair of shoes
- A plain purse
- A Gemstone Trim (https://amzn.to/3vKOaht)
- A pair of shoe clips (Etsy OR https://amzn.to/2NzbRIh)
- A glue gun (https://amzn.to/3eY0o0g)
- A pair of scissors
INSTRUCTIONS:
SHOES
Step 1:
Cut 2 x 15 cm long pieces of the gemstone trim. Fold each piece into a small rectangle by tucking the raw ends under. Then use a glue gun to secure the fold.
Step 2:
Use the glue gun to attach the shoe clips to the back side of the folded gemstone trim. (N.B. Try to make sure that the shoe clips are positioned on the bottom end of the trim because this will make it easier to attach it to your shoes)
Step 3:
Attached your shoe clips to your shoes and you’re all done.
PURSE
Step 1:
Cut piece of the gemstone trim that is a few centimetres longer than the width of your purse.
Step 2:
Use a glue gun to attach the gemstone trim to the front flap of the purse. Glue the centre of the trim to the middle of the front flap first in order to position it correctly, and then glue the rest of the trim. Finally, tuck the raw edges underneath the flap and glue them down for a neat finish.
