So here it is: look 2 of my current bridal series. I’ve called this look ‘The Classic‘ because it gently accentuates the features of a bride in a timeless way. Neutral eyeshadows and a nude pink lip are always a winner. It’s a makeup look that just about anyone can pull off and I’m yet to find someone that this look does not suit. If you disagree with me then send me a message, lets set up a makeup appointment, and I shall convert you!
Oh, by the way, I made the hair vine that my client is wearing! It took me just under an hour and I’m quite proud of my efforts. If you are a bride on a budget or a DIY enthusiast then making your own jewellery is a great idea. Do let me know if you want a tutorial on how to create hair vines.
As I was editing these photos I was struck by just how beautiful my client is! As Nigerians would say, “See fyyne ghel!” LOL!! She had great skin and was simply a joy to work with. I really didn’t have to do much when it came to editing her pictures – her skin really is that good! I want whatever she’s drinking and eating because it works.
Let’s get down to business about the products used the create ‘The Classic’. As usual, keep on scrolling down below.

The Base
My client has normal skin so I applied the Makeup Forever (MUFE) Step 1 Smoothing Primer all over her face and then I mixed this primer with a green colour corrector and dabbed in onto any red areas of her skin to neutralise it. To brighten up under a eyes, I used a peach toned colour corrector also by MUFE. I created a custom foundation shade by mixing Makeup Forever Ultra HD foundations in the shades Y225 & Y315; this foundation photographs very well and looks like real skin. It’s also very long lasting, so it a great choice for bridal makeup.
I decided to do a liquid brontour using a darker foundation shade (MUFE Y425) and applied this to the perimeter of her face, on either side of her nose and under her cheek bones. Since this foundation is very golden, I didn’t have to use a bronzing powder on top which meant that I used less products on her face. I used the P.Louise Base in ‘Rumour’ as a liquid highlighter for the highpoints of her face and set this with the Ben Nye Translucent powder in ‘Cameo’. The rest of her face was set using the MAC Mineralise Skin Finish in the shade ‘Light Plus’ and of course, the NYX Dewy Finish Setting Spray. The bullet proof combination of a setting powder and setting spray really helps bridal makeup last all day (wow, I rhymed without trying!).
The Eyes
Her brows were shaped using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow in the colour ‘Taupe’. Again, I used the P.Louise Base in the shade ‘Rumour’ as an eyeshadow base and then used three neutral shades from the Urban Decay Ultimate Basics Palette on her eyelids (i.e., ‘Blow’, ‘Commando’ and ‘Tempter’). I only lined the outer two thirds of her upper eyelids with Inglot’s AMC liner in shade ’77’ and applied some individual eyelashes to the outer corners of her eyes in order to add subtle drama. I love using individual eyelashes at the moment! They are great for moments when you want to add definition to the eyes but without the heavy look of strip lashes. I also used an eyeliner by MAC called ‘Teddy’ to line the outer third of her lower lash line.
The Lips
I used my new favourite lip product: MAC ‘Modesty’ lipstick. It’s a great pinky-nude shade that’s very flattering on most skin tones. I even wear this lipstick AND I’m very dark skinned (N.B. if you are dark skinned then use a brown lip liner with this lipstick and blend it in or else you risk looking like a scary clown!! Consider yourself warned). Modesty has a cremesheen finish, which according to the MAC website is: “medium buildable coverage and a semi-glossy finish”. I find it very comfortable to wear all day and only need to reapply it once or twice. If you use a similar toned lip liner underneath this lipstick then it will fade very gracefully.
The Cheeks
Can I just say that I’m obsessed with how the Becca Highlighter in ‘Opal’ looked on my clients face!!!!! It was the perfect highlight and added that ‘lit from within’ glow that brides dream about. It’s also really easy to blend so you don’t get the harsh lines that I’ve seen with other highlighters. I used a blush by Clarins called ‘Soft Peach’ on her cheeks for a soft flush of colour.
The Final Verdict
Stunning! Beautiful! Glamorous! Classic! And of course long lasting!
