Pom pom embellished bags and shoes have been very fashionable since last summer. I love this trend because pom poms are so much fun and they resonate with my inner child. I had some pom poms and gold beads in my craft basket which were crying out for some attention, so instead of buying myself a new bag I decided to make my own pom pom embellished clutch bag. It’s a super easy project that you can accomplish in minutes with very little equipment.
I first made my own clutch bag from a white table mat that I picked up from Tiger for £1.00. What an awesome bargain! Click here for instructions on how to make a table mat clutch bag, but if you already have a bag that you want to upcycle then use it instead. I’m quite happy with how my bag turned out and I look forward to showing it off on my next outing.
I hope that when I’m old and grey I’ll still be wearing pom poms in some way. One of my goals is to be able to run 100 meters when I’m 80 years old, so I may just stick some pom poms onto my running shoes and make like chariots of fire!

You will need:
A clutch bag
Pom Poms
A glue gun
Pliers
Gold chain
Beads of different sizes
Instructions:
1. Use pliers to cut a length of chain to the same length as your clutch bag and then use a glue gun to attach it to the front flap of the bag. (I placed small dots of glue approximately every 3 cm so that it looked invisible)
2. Use a glue gun to attach 2 rows of pom poms above the length of chain. I decided to plan where I wanted each pom pom to go before sticking them onto the bag so that there was an even distribution of colour; but be as haphazard as you wish – this is your bag after all!
3. Use the glue gun to attach gold beads in between the pom poms and your bag is ready to roll!
