Can we all just pause and take a minute to appreciate how beautiful Kyra is??
She was planning to be a guest at a wedding last weekend, so her lovely mother booked me to do her makeup. Kyra wanted a fairly neutral makeup look with a bit of drama on her eyes; in my opinion, a soft brown smokey eye with a nude lip fitted the brief perfectly. This look can be worn for any occasion and never really goes out of style. Let me talk you through how I created this look:
Kyra has combination skin, so I started by prepping her skin with a mix of Becca Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector on her T-zone which gets oily, and then used the Arbonne Makeup Primer for the rest of her face. I used Benefit’s Goof Proof Brow Pencil in Number 5 to create a natural looking brow before moving onto her eyeshadow. My favourite brown eyeshadow at the moment is called ‘Chocolate’ from the Laura Geller ‘The Wearables’ Baked Shadow Palette, so I used this colour all over her eyelids and blended it into a transition colour (MAC’s Blush in Raizin) above her crease. Just a little tip: you can use powder blushes as eyeshadows and eyeshadows as blushes! It’s a great way to make the most of your makeup kit.
I lined her eyes with Inglot’s AMC Gel Liner in number 77 and then applied some false lashes for a bit of extra drama.
Kyra had areas of hyperpigmentation on her face, so I corrected this with the LA Girl Pro Concealer in Orange, before applying her foundation. I created a custom foundation shade using MAC’s Studio Fix Fluid in NC 45 and The Body Shop’s Shade Adjusting Drops in Dark. I highlighted under her eyes and the bridge of her nose with LA Girl Pro Concealer in Pure Beige and set this with Sacha Buttercup Setting powder.
Kyra wanted a bit of a glowy finish, so I used the Inglot HD Highlighter Trio powders in 101 and 102 to highlight the high points of her face. For blush, I used a KIKO Wet & Dry Eyeshadow in Number 38 – the pigmentation of this eyeshadow is awesome! On her lips I used MAC’s Lip Pencil in Cork to add some definition to her outer lips and then used NYX’s Matte Lip liner in London to fill in her inner lips. I finished off her look by applying one of my favourite pinky-nude lipsticks: Charlotte Tilbury’s Very Victoria. It’s a stunning shade that works on pretty much all skin tones.
Kyra loved her makeup look (YAYYY!) and I had a ball creating it. I really enjoy making people feel and look good, and when you have such a lovely client it doesn’t feel like work at all. She sent me some pics in her wedding guest outfit and I think she looks amazeballs!
