    1. Tom Ford Black Orchid Eau de Parfum

    favourite beauty products of 2016

This Black Orchid perfume has an amazing smell! It’s apparently a mix of Black Truffle, Ylang, Bergamot and Black Currant. I would describe it as a deep, woody, floral scent. I got it as a Christmas gift in 2015 and all through last year I wore it almost every day. After using Black Orchid for a year I still have about half a bottle left so it’s definitely good value for money. The bottle looks very sleek and sophisticated – the combination of black and gold colours is timeless and suits my aesthetic to a T.

    2.  Arbonne Awaken Sea Salt Scrub

    favourite beauty products of 2016

I was invited to an Arbonne Party last year and tried the Awaken Sea Salt scrub. After working the scrub into my hands for a few minutes, I rinsed it off and was astounded by how luxuriously soft and moisturised my hands felt! I promptly bought it and since then I use it all over my body and then rinse it off in the shower. It seriously leaves my skin feeling like silk, and it locks in moisture really well. I love the scent of it too; it reminds me of what a freshly baked lemon and orange cupcake would taste like, mmmm ….. yummy! This sea salt scrub is an amazing product and I think I’ll be using it for years to come.

    3.  Nivea Double Effect Eye Make-up Remover

    favourite beauty products of 2016

The Nivea Double Effect Eye Makeup Remover removes waterproof mascara, false lashes and makeup incredibly well and also very gently. It outperforms all the other micellar waters and eye makeup removers that I’ve tried so far and trust me, I’ve tried a few! The Double Effect Eye Makeup Remover does such a good job that I don’t just use it on my eyes, in fact I use it all over my face and lips. It leaves my skin feeling very moisturised which I really like. It costs approximately £ 3.00 from Tesco which is a pretty good deal, so I stock up when I’m doing my grocery shopping. Oh, and do remember to shake the eye makeup remover before you use it so that the oil and water layers are well mixed.

    4. Illamasqua Loose Powder, LP 010

    favourite beauty products of 2016

This is undoubtedly the most versatile product in my makeup kit because it can be used on every single skin tone from the coolest ivory to the deepest ebony. Unlike a lot of other translucent powders, the Illamasqua Loose Powder does not leave a white cast on dark skin – YAY! I often use it on top of a silicone based primer on the days when I don’t feel like wearing foundation, and it does a great job of mattifying my skin and making it look smoother. A little of this product goes a long way; I’ve used about half of one tub in a year, so it’s well worth every penny.

    5. The Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil

    favourite beauty products of 2016

I’ve mentioned this Camomile Cleansing Oil in a previous post on my favourite The Body Shop products (click here). The fact that I’m mentioning it again shows just how much I love this product. It’s my favourite cleanser to use at the end of the day because it takes off my makeup effortlessly. I love how it leaves my skin feeling silky, moisturised, and very, very loved. It truly is a wonder product and I quickly ditched my other cleansers once I tried it. Well done to The Body Shop and please, please never stop making this product.

    favourite beauty products of 2016

In summary, 2016 brought me some amazing beauty products and my aim in 2017 is to be open to discovering new ones. I’ve learnt that there’s always an amazing product waiting to be discovered but only if I’m willing to keep on trying new ones. So give these products a go and who knows, they may become your favourites too.
