  • ANALOGOUS COLOURS #1 – RED, ORANGE, GOLD

As I drove around the Hertfordshire countryside on a lazy Sunday afternoon I was captivated by acres of brilliant yellow rapeseed flowers – it felt like they were calling my name! The colour yellow announces that summer is finally here and I could not resist jumping into a rapeseed field and taking photos of my latest make up look which is number one in my three part series called ‘Analogous Colours’.

Analogous colours lie next to one another on the colour wheel and always look good when used together. If you are ever in doubt as to how to combine make up colours (or colours for anything else), find a colour wheel online, pick 3-4 colours that are next to each other and experiment. Today I decided to focus on the red-orange-yellow section of the colour wheel.

Since my eyeshadow was quite bright, I decided to pair it with a muted orange-brown lipstick; I got the right shade by mixing two lipsticks together. This look is perfect for summer and so much fun to wear. To be honest, these pictures don’t reflect how vibrant the colours look in real life. I struggled a bit while shooting because the light kept on changing every few minutes – photography can sometimes be so frustrating.

Stay tuned for Analogous Colours #2…….I’m so excited and can’t wait to see what I come up with! The moral of the story is to have fun with colour and don’t be afraid to experiment, it is only make up after all.
